William J. Pascrell, III
Passaic County Counsel
Dear Friends:

WELCOME TO THE PASSAIC COUNTY COUNSEL WEBSITE! It gives me great pleasure to present to you, the residents of Passaic County, this new website and e-mail communications system. This site will provide you with around the clock access to information about the County Counsel's office and more.

The County Counsel is the chief legal advisor to county government. Specifically, the County Counsel represents the Board of Chosen Freeholders, the Sheriff's Department, the County Clerk, and Surrogate, as well as all County departments. The County Counsel is also the head of the Department of Law, which includes the Office of Weights and Measures, the Division of Consumer Protection, and the County Adjuster. (For more detailed information, please click on Contact Info).

The County Counsel oversees all litigation the County is party to. Since I was first appointed County Counsel, my office has vociferously protected the County's interest in every single case ensuring a fair and just outcome. In addition to this, the County Counsel administers the collection of over 400 bond forfeitures a year. Any revenue that comes into the County from bond forfeitures is considered miscellaneous revenue and goes into the general County fund which offsets the tax levy of the subsequent year. That is why my office has taken an aggressive approach and has diligently worked through the process of acquiring this money. Over the past two years we have collected over $3 Million.

With this website, you will be able to view the Freeholder's Meeting Agendas and Resolutions at least 24 hours before the actual meeting. I am proud that we are one of the first counties in the State to have both Agendas and Resolutions available to you from your own computer.

This website was designed with you in mind. My goal is to proactively communicate with you, the residents of Passaic County, with important County information such as meeting agendas, resolutions, news releases, OPRA information, and much more. The email communication system is a critical part of this website because you do not have to check the site everyday for updates. The updates get emailed right to you! The website and e-mail communication services are easy to use. I trust you will find the County Counsel's website enjoyable and very useful!
