John D. Pogorelec, Jr. serves as an Assistant County Counsel for the County of Passaic. In connection with the Office of the County Counsel, John's duties include advising the Board of Chosen Freeholders on legal and policy issues pertaining to public health and human services; open space and recreation; and zoning and planning. He is currently assigned as counsel to the Freeholder Standing Committee of Health, Education, and Community Services; the Passaic County Open Space Advisory Board; the Passaic County Agricultural Board, and the Camp Hope Commission. In addition, John represents the County in all environmental and weights and measures litigation.

A lifelong resident of Clifton, John was appointed to the County Counsel's Office in 1998. He served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Nicholas G. Mandak, Assignment Judge of Passaic County Superior Court (deceased), and served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable John F. Edwards, United States Superior Court of Federal Claims, Washington, D.C. John received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Business from Lafayette College in 1991, and his law degree from Touro College of Law in 1994. He is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, the State of New Jersey, and the District of Columbia.
